Hi Michael

I am new to the bootloading, so please tell me if i am on the wrong track!
Is it correct that when the PIC is programmed with the bootloader it will create a virtuel COM port if connected to a PC or MAC computer?
I then have to create a user program using MPLAP. Here i can save the user program as a hex file and program it into the PIC controller using the ds30 Loader?

If the above is correct then:
If i start Windows Hyperterminal program and open the virtuel COM port end sends "A" to the PIC controller, at what
address can i see that "A" in the PIC controller?

I am sorry but your understanding is not correct. Unfortunately I have no time to educated how PIC and boot loaders work.
I suggest that you try another forum and come back here if you need help with ds30 Loader.
